What is Adapt to Reuse?

Adaptive Reuse projects are often not easy as they are full of unique and unexpected challenges. As designers, developers, and owners, we must Adapt our own expectations and practices to Reuse an existing structure. Unique challenges are just one source of the fulfillment that comes along with a successful Adaptive Reuse project.

I created Adapt to Reuse because I went looking for a community or collection of resources related to Adaptive Reuse and didn’t find an organized source of information. There are many, many resources available if you search long enough however I wanted to create a collaborative space that professionals and enthusiasts alike could visit to learn and share their experiences. I will share, and I hope others will eventually join me in sharing, success stories and lessons learned so that we can all collectively learn together. I will also be sharing Adaptive Reuse resources and project/company spotlights that catch my eye in the news or other media.

I hope you’ll join me in this endeavor to push the Adaptive Reuse industry collectively forward and educate others around us about how great old structures are and the potential they offer.
